Easel Card

This is the first time I am putting an easel card together. I have done some recycling in the process of making it as well.

I started off with using distress ink(Tim Holtz) on the doily. At the center used the chrysanthemum stencil for embossing. I was planning for  a glittery paste but somehow did not the get the color and texture I was aiming for so to improvise bordered the design with glitter paste. Added few pearls.

I was in a fix what to use for the base. Searched around for patterned papers- nothing matched it, even thought of coloring paper and using it- but was not sure which colors would look good. Finally I got this paper from an old invitation card.  It simply blended so well wiht the card colors I used. So I cut it into shape bordered it with pearls.

Used quilled design (after ages did some quilling) to pep up the card base. Finally added the handwritten sentiment.

 Some closer look.

The colors have not come so good in the snap. It is looking much lighter than it actually is. Will keep trying to get a better snap.

CD Cover Mini album

I was thinking of putting to use some spare CD covers I have at home. Then one day my friend wanted me to make a gift for him so that he could give to his sister newly married sister, so I decided I would make a mini album of the CD cover I had.

First made these quilled teddies. Went through all the tutorial and videos on internet and finally made them. Making teddies was the most time consuming for me this this project.

I had some beautiful textured papers which I collected over so many years from invitations, magazines and whatever I could get my hand on. So decided to finally make use of it. Picked two different papers and cut it into the size so that it fits into that CS cover. Then decorated those papers. Purposely did not add any 3D ornaments as I wanted those to fit in the cover and can be closed. In each sheet I kept some grooves so that photos or mementos can be tugged in.

Covered inner side of the CD cover with crepe paper added the sentiment "Life is Beautiful" and some decoration.

For the outer side of the CD cover was again covered with the paper and adorned with teddies and some quilled flowers

The edges I covered with some colored papers.

After I gave it to my friend he suggested me to make the sheets as wall hanging so that either they can display the photos or keep them in this album. So made the change and here is how it looks.

Quilled Earring

Quilled Earring

I have been very fascinated by quilling since the time I first came to know about it around 1.5 years back. I tried my hand and found it very simple and interesting. I tried different patterns of flowers using quilling , always searched on net on different varieties we can make. I was somehow restricted to just trying new techniques but did not try to come up with finished product. Finally decided to use my skill to make a set of earring :)

For any one who wants to learn quilling there are so many sites, videos available you can just refer them and understand the process. I will share some of favorites too.

This I what I made....................

When I started working on it I had a different design in mind. Basically a flower shaped earring. But after I was done with the petals I did not feel like making that shape. I tried some different patterns which I can make with those tear-drop shape

I personally liked the second one but felt was too long for my taste. So went with the first one. So below is the product.

After finishing this I was left with two more tear-shaped petals, since I was planning for a flower shape I had made 5 petals each. So decided to go ahead and make another pair of earrings :)
