BLOOM where you are planted

Happy New year!!! Well I am little late though :). After many days I have come with a card. Yesterday got some new stamp sets and was eager to get started with it.

I stamped few flowers and colored them using water color pencils, added few details with white gel pen and some glitter. From one side cut the edges and adhered on one side of a grey cardstock.
The sentiment is from the same stamp set(Mudra- Wild Rose), used a layer of vellum and foam tape to add the sentiment on the card.

Here are the pics....

Ogee pattern Card

Hey friends,
Today I wanted to share 2 cards made by pattern paper I had created. When I made it, I was not sure if I would use it for card but it was so much fun making it using water colors. Minimum supply and maximum pleasure I would say :)

Well I was inspired by the Sea Lemon video (Ogee pattern), Jennifer teaches such easy ways to make beautiful patterns and many more DIYs.

I had made the design on A4 size paper, so for the card I cut it as per the size required and was able to make 2 of them.

Here you go.......

A closer look....

I was able to put the cards quickly, since I had all the things handy. As you can see on one card I emphasized on green and on the other with blue by adding some embellishments essentially ribbon, satin rose and colored rhinestones.

Birthday sentiment is from Itsy Bitsy and Friendship sentiment from Inspired By Stamping.

I enjoyed the process of coloring, hope you too loved it. Please do post your feedback I love to read them.

Thanks have a nice day!

Froggy Birthday Card

Hello,
Today I have a birthday card to share and some thing different that usual floral cards I post. I wanted to make some fun card but mostly what I have is floral stamps. However my son does have some aqua themed play stamps and he did not mind letting me use them. Using those I stamped and colored images and one of it I am using in this one.

I like that frog with a mischievous smile :).  I stamped it and colored with DI. The balloon, sentiment are from SSS. Finally assembled the card on colored card stock adding a DI colored yellow panel.

My son was happy I made something using his stuff. Hope you like it as well.

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day ahead.

Freehand drawing + "Love is sweet" card

Hello friends,
Hope you are having a great start to the week. My craze for drawing has still not seized but I am not complaining :) , I am just loving it. So today again I am sharing a card for which I did some freehand drawing and then made it into a card.

Special thing was, this is the first card which my hubby said he liked the most. I was over the moon !!!!

Here it goes...

I did not capture that well on camera, but it looks much better in person. I just used my black pen to make the design first and colored it using DI. I wanted a small sentiment for this card so went with the one from SSS( Should have done 1 more layer of stamping, I stopped at 2 :( ). Added colored cardstock before mounting it to finish the card.

Another doodle ...

Hey there, hope you are having a good start for the week. I am still hooked on to doodling and converting them into cards. So today again I am sharing one of the designs I made. Last one I had kept uncolored so this time I thought about trying to color it and I enjoyed every bit of it.

So here's the card.

I have used DI to color and the sentiment and the banner design is from Inspired by Stamping.
For the colors I was inspired by the Cupcake Inspiration challenge. I totally love that combo.

Card with Spotlight Technique

I usually do not post on weekday but today is an exception. I had some time in hand and made this card using spotlight technique.

First I stamped the image of the flowers from Inspired By Stamping stamp set. Then highlighted the topmost portion of the image using another piece of cardstock overlapping the underlying image.
Using a pen created faux stitching on both the highlighted panel and the base cardstock.
Background is created using ghosting technique with versamark resist. Those little hearts are from SSS Heartfelt Notes set. Coloring is done by Tim Holtz distress ink and sentiment is from Mudra stamps using Memento tuxedo black ink.

Mounted this on a green card base.

Usually spotlight technique has highlight on a very small portion of the image and mine is almost 50% of the image still I wanted to make it this way.

Watercolor card

Hey there...hope you are doing fine. Today I am sharing a watercolor card, a quick one not too complicated. First stamped the flowers and heat embossed using white embossing powder. Colored it using distress ink. For the background just played with more colors from distress ink. Finished off with the sentiment on the left corner. I had masked that part using washi tape.

You can do Anything

Hey friends...hope you are enjoying your weekend. Over the weekdays I managed to create a card sharing that today. I created this for few of the challenges.

Background is created using wet on wet technique. Using stamp I added some more texture at the bottom of the paper and some to the right side. Stamped the bunch of flowers. I decided against using any color for the flowers.

I cut a strip from the bottom and adhered both the pieces on the card stock at some distance with sentiment in between. Finished with some rhinestones.

Girly!!!!

One more card from my end. This time it is for a lovely friend of mine. She wanted to give it to someone and has specific details in the mind. She definitely wanted the card to be in pink and flowers too. So made this one for her.

The chrysanthemum flower is made using water color spray. I had the stencil of the flower.

Added quilled roses and highlighted the flower with the pearl circle. The outer pink part of the card has heart stamped on it.

The card format I have selected from Crafty Sentiments.

I am putting this card for the following challenges:

Greeting Card

I was thinking about making a greeting card for a while was not sure what to make and how to make it! Spent many days just thinking of designs, even collect few things to use in my card. But finally when I sat to make the card below was the output(without making use of the things collected nor what all themes I was pondering upon :))

To get the background I tried many options on my journal, tried to get texture using salt, spray painting and what not but used the most easiest one.

To get the pattern I just used a piece of cotton, water colors and water and TA DA! below is the result.
What I did was, wet the cotton ball using water put a little water color over the cotton and just dabbed it on the paper. Initially I was thinking of sticking to blue and green color but later added a hint of black and red for more effect. I was really happy with the end result. Did not take the work in progress pictures but would definitely like to share few tips.

  • As for any water color painting, after the paint dries the paint would be in a little lighter shade that what we see when it is wet, so use the color based on how intense you want it
  • You can see I did not try to mix colors into each other, all the effect is of water. Purposely I made sure that some paper is visible as I chose the paper color for that. If you don't want the paper to be visible then you need to dab the cotton accordingly.

A closer look.......

Once I was done I simply put few pictures to give it a feel of ocean and finished it with the wishes. (Did not take close ups :( )
